Overview
Steve Balon has a corporate commercial and securities law practice, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, shareholder arrangements, corporate reorganizations and corporate finance.
He assists on a range of transactions, including acting for targets and acquirors in domestic and cross-border acquisitions, investments and divestitures. Steve provides ongoing advice to public companies on their disclosure, corporate governance and securities law obligations.
Before becoming an associate at Bennett Jones, Steve summered and articled with the firm. While articling, Steve was seconded to The Coca-Cola Company.

Five Star Holding, a Texas-based sustainable packaging solutions provider, as Canadian counsel, in its acquisition of flexible packaging plant activities from Cascades Inc.
Paradigm Capital, as sole agent, in its C$8.4-million brokered private placement of flow-through and hard dollar units for Cartier Resources
Zhone Technologies, a global provider of fiber optic broadband solutions and cloud software services, in connection with its acquisition of substantially all of the worldwide assets and international subsidiaries of DZS, DZS Services and DZS California by way of an Asset Purchase Agreement and an order of the United States Bankruptcy Court out of Chapter 7 bankruptcy proceedings for the Eastern District of Texas approving such sale of assets; and in connection with Zhone's acquisition of Net Comm Wireless Pty pursuant to a Deed of Company Arrangement (DOCA) approved by creditors and the Federal Court of Australia
