Overview

Mercy Liu advises clients on all aspects of competition law, including merger review, misleading advertising (including greenwashing), abuse of dominance and other compliance matters. Mercy has experience working on complex, high-profile merger transactions (including complying with supplementary information requests (SIRs)) and on criminal and civil investigations under the Competition Act (including complying with section 11 orders).

Mercy also advises clients on all aspects of foreign investment reviews under the Investment Canada Act, including foreign investments into critical minerals, Canadian cultural businesses, and sensitive technologies and has experience working on net benefit and national security reviews.

Mercy is a member of the Canadian Bar Association (Competition Law and Foreign Investment Review Section) and the American Bar Association (Antitrust Law Section). Before becoming an associate at Bennett Jones, Mercy summered and articled with the firm.
